Man, the Wild can't win with their draft picks it seems. Personally, I had high hopes for Rossi to actually make the roster. Now, depending on how long he is on the shelf, I think it might just be better to send him back to Austria for the season. But at least start with him healing here in Minnesota. Maybe it's the best for the future that they don't burn his first year this year.
Thinking about it, the Wild have (2) 1st Rd draft picks, single 2nd Rd pick and (2) 3rd Rd draft picks next year. Billy has built some draft capitol from which to work with in rebuilding the Wild now. If the Wild are terrible this year, and are able to get a stud C that is NHL ready in next year's draft, then Rossi (he is small) can be the 2C starting next year. Along Kaprizov and Fiala (and possibly Boldy), that looks to me like the makings of a pretty good, young roster. |
